Recent census data collected by the National Institute of
Mental Health (NIMH), and the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) have
reported that close to 1 in 5 individuals currently suffers form mental
illness, and that the most common condition, "Anxiety Disorders" have
peaked. Fully 28.8% of us will experience impairment in functioning as a
direct result of anxiety in our lifetimes. Add to this the steady rise in
suicide rates now trending upward with a 24% increase over the past 15 years,
and it's rank as the second leading of cause of death among individuals ranging
from 10 to 34 years of age; and one can see the need for a more advanced
approach to understanding and treating these highly prevalent conditions.
